Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account or using ChessCoach-AI (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
ChessCoach-AI imports your Chess.com game history via the public Chess.com API, optionally runs Stockfish-based accuracy analysis on those games, and uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalised study plans. We do not control your Chess.com account; we only read publicly available data associated with a username you provide.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for the credentials you use to access ChessCoach-AI and for any activity under your account. You must provide a real, working email address. You may associate any Chess.com username you have permission to study, but you are responsible for the accuracy of the handle you supply.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
The Standard tier is free and includes a one-time demo study plan. The Premium tier is billed monthly via Stripe at the price displayed at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain Premium access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others; (b) attempt to bypass usage caps, authentication, or rate limits; (c) scrape, resell, or systematically extract output produced by the Service; (d) submit other people's data without their permission; or (e) interfere with the Service's operation. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party providers including Chess.com, Supabase, Anthropic (Claude), Stripe, Vercel, and Render. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' respective terms. ChessCoach-AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Chess.com.
7. AI-generated content
Study plans, weaknesses, and recommendations produced by the Service are generated by an AI model based on the games you import. They are provided for informational and training purposes only. They are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose, and they do not constitute professional coaching advice. Use your own judgement before acting on them.
8. Intellectual property
ChessCoach-AI, its name, design, and software are owned by us and protected by applicable laws. You retain ownership of the personal data you provide. By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to process your game data and metadata as necessary to operate the Service.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChessCoach-AI and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@chesscoach-ai.com.
